Kulima director in Zambia to assess agricultural adaptation

vegetablesDr Katharine Vincent has been in Zambia this past week to visit sorghum farmers in the drought-prone Chirundi district of Southern province and see how they are responding to climate change. Agricultural adaptations are being assessed in six countries across Africa as part of a project managed by Kulima and UNIQUE Landuse and Forestry that seeks to identify agricultural adaptation best practices on behalf of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme.  Differerent farming systems and commodity types were selected for further investigation at a workshop in 2013.  Fieldwork in all six countries is taking place in 2014, with results anticipated in early 2015.
