Kulima director invited to take part in ASSAR project MOOC planning workshop

Dr Katharine Vincent is in Cape Town this week, participating in a workshop hosted by a project in the CARIAA programme, Adaptation to Climate Change in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASSAR). As a legacy of its learnings on ensuring research impact and research informing policy and practice, ASSAR Researh-into-Use partner, Oxfam, is leading the development of a Massive Open Online Course. Katharine will share insights from the Deltas, Vulnerability and Climate Change: Migration and Adaptation (DECCMA) project.

Kulima director in Dubai for meeting of the CARIAA research-into-use group

Dr Katharine Vincent is continuing the week in Dubai with a meeting of the Collaborative Adaptation Research in Africa and Asia programme research-into-use group. The meeting is attended by research impact and communications experts from the four CARIAA programmes that are investigating adaptation in different hotspots: HI-AWARE (snowpack river basins), ASSAR(semi-arid regions), PRISE (semi-arid economies) and DECCMA (deltas). The purpose is to develop impact-focused outputs that synthesis findings of the CARIAA programme on key themes. Katharine will be coordinating an output summarising migration findings from across Africa and Asia.

Kulima director participating in CARIAA workshop on “stories of change” M&E method

CARIAA workshopDr Katharine Vincent is currently in Addis Ababa to participate in a workshop under the Collaborative Adaptation Research in Africa and Asia (CARIAA) programme. One of the core aims of CARIAA is to promote uptake of adaptation research by stakeholders in policy and practice, and so it is essential to monitor and evaluate the progress towards this. DECCMA and the three other projects within CARIAA are meeting, under the leadership of Adaptation at Scale in Semi-Arid Regions (ASSAR). The purpose is to develop a methodology to identify, understand, describe and document the change that is resulting from CARIAA research, capacity building and stakeholder engagement activities. The specific focus is on "stories of change" and how to build an innovative and participatory element into identifying, tracking and documenting stories of change on adaptation within the CARIAA projects.
