Over the next two weeks Dr Katharine Vincent is running a number of climate change sensitisation and awareness raising workshops in western Zambia. Following on from the Training of Trainers for the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience held in January, eight workshops will take place to cover the 14 districts of the Barotse sub-basin that are participating in phase 2 of PPCR. The workshops will be attended by district and council officials, members of the Barotse Royal Establishment, non-government organisations, and community leaders. The purpose is to raise their awareness of climate change risks and opportunities as a precursor to more in-depth risk assessments, mainstreaming of climate resilience in local development planning, and support to adaptation actions.
