Dr Katharine Vincent and Ms Tracy Cull are currently in Cape Town for the synthesis workshop of the Future Climate for Africa pilot case studies. The workshop brings together representatives of the teams that worked in Ghana and Mozambique, Malawi, Rwanda and Zambia to highlight common emerging understanding on the current use of weather and climate information in policy-making and planning, and the potential barriers to, and opportunities for, improving climate services in decision-making. Katharine and Tracy will be representing their experiences from the Malawi pilot case study, which was based on in-country stakeholder consultations and a workshop undertaken in partnership with the University of Leeds. The findings are intended to inform the proposals for the full Future Climate for Africa programme, which are currently under development by 9 shortlisted consortia.
