Following last week's formal launch of the Future Climate for Africa programme, this week Dr Katharine Vincent and Ms Tracy Cull are attending the UMFULA project inception meeting in Cape Town. UMFULA is a climate services project with various components. It will improve the availability of high resolution climate information and use that to project water availability based on water models. This process will be informed by user demands for such information. UMFULA will also be looking at decision-making processes and co-producing scenarios of future conditions that can be used in medium and long-term planning in the water and agriculture sectors. Decision-making contexts will be examined at regional and national level, as well as in case studies in the Rufiji basin in Tanzania, and three districts (Nsanje, Chikwawa and Thyolo) in the the lower Shire basin in Malawi.
