On 12 May 2026, Dr Katharine Vincent participated in the workshop “Advancing action at the climate change–biodiversity interface” at the Luxembourg Learning Centre, University of Luxembourg. The workshop was organised by the Luxembourg Centre for Socio-Environmental Systems (LCSES) of the University of Luxembourg and the Center for Climate Resilient Development (CRED) at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences.

The workshop was designed as a co-creative space for exploring how science-policy-practice partnerships can advance action on climate change and biodiversity. It brought together international assessment authors, policy makers, government focal points and practitioners working at the intersection of climate change and biodiversity, with a focus on how evidence from major assessment processes can better inform implementation.

The programme combined presentations of case studies, including a presentation by Dr Katharine Vincent and Mastulah Nabulwama on the inclusion of persons with disabilities in climate action, with breakout discussions and a public panel discussion that included participation from the Government of Luxembourg. These sessions were used to examine the practical links between research, policy and local action, and to identify entry points for strengthening collaboration across sectors and governance levels.

The workshop reflected the growing recognition that action on climate change and biodiversity needs to be addressed together, and that promoting ecosystem stewardship and social justice are both important to effective implementation. It also highlighted the value of creating spaces where practitioners, policy makers and researchers can exchange lessons from ongoing work and co-create climate-resilient futures.
