This week Katharine Vincent, Stacia Nordin and Willem Colenbrander are participating in the FANRPAN Annual Regional Multistakeholder Policy Dialogue 2025 in Johannesburg, which has the theme “Aligning Regional Policies and Investments for Accelerated Agrifood Systems Transformation in Africa”.

Capitalising on the presence of regional food systems stakeholders, the Dialogue will incorporate a future food systems workshop under the Food System Transformation in Southern Africa for One Health (FoSTA-Health) project, funded by the EU and UKRI.

FoSTA-Health has co-developed representative transformation pathways (RTPs) which wil be used within the iFeed modelling framework to model future crop production levels under the different scenarios. Concurrently, it has conducted research with stakeholders to map food systems and chart their evolution.

Findings to date will be presented in the workshop as a precursor to interactive sessions to unpack what will need to change for the RTPs to become future reality. These inputs will be used as further inputs to the iFeed framework to further finetune model outputs and ensure their utility for decision making.
