Dr Katharine Vincent and Ms Tracy Cull are finalising a project which has assessed the application of seasonal forecasts in southern Africa. The "Southern Africa's Hydro-Economy and Water Security" project is funded by the Belmont Forum's International Opportunities Fund. Together with partners from the Grantham Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, the University of East Anglia's Water Security Research Centre, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), South Africa's Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and UEA's Climatic Research Unit (CRU) they have analysed the nature of various seasonal forecasts for the 2014-15 season, and carried out interviews with stakeholders in the water, agriculture and land use, energy and humanitarian sectors regarding their accessibility and utility.
