Kulima is proud to be part of a new programme – Science for adaptation: Learning and innovation in evidence about future climate (SALIENT). SALIENT will take place over four years (2022-26) with the aim of transforming climate change outlooks to a new “climate futures science”. This will involve promoting adaptation-led climate science and using cutting edge risk communication research to ensure accessibility to decision makers – thereby addressing the climate futures information gap.

The programme is led by Dr Rachel James at the University of Bristol, as part of a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship. Kulima will be acting as a mentor, along with the Universities of Leeds, Cape Town, Pretoria, TU Delft, the Met Office and Climate Outreach.
