Kulima organises Africa Climate Change Resilience Alliance Regional Conference

Kulima has organised the Africa Climate Change Resilience Alliance (ACCRA) Regional Conference, taking place in Nairobi from 26-28th September.  ACCRA is an ambitious consortium (Oxfam, Care, World Vision, Save the Children and ODI) working to improve global understanding of adaptive capacity and promote disaster risk reduction, social protection and climate change adaptation in Ethiopia, Uganda and Mozambique.  The conference will bring together over 60 policymakers, civil society representatives and other key actors, including Uganda’s Ministers for Disaster Preparedness, Environment and Local Government and high level government representatives from Ethiopia and Mozambique, to identify common solutions to the challenges posed by climate change.

UNU-UNISDR-SEI Anglophone African Writeshop on Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction

Dr Katharine Vincent and Tracy Cull will shortly be leaving for Accra, Ghana, where they will be acting as mentors at the UNU-UNISDR-SEI Anglophone African Writeshop.  The event, which aims to assist African early career scholars, practitioners and policy-makers to produce a paper of sufficient quality for submission to a peer-review journal, will be attended by 25 participants selected from an applicant pool of over 70.  Themes of the writeshop are climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
