New paper on the Vulnerability, Impacts, Adaptation and Climate Services Advisory Board with inputs from Kulima

VIACS paper

A paper on the role of the Vulnerability, Impacts, Adaptation and Climate Services Advisory Board (VIACS AB v1.0) and its contribution to CMIP6 has been published in Geoscientific Model Development. CMIP6 is the mechanism for comparing global climate models. The VIACS advisory board represents the researchers who use climate information as one input to analyse vulnerability, impacts and adaptation. The aim is to inform the CMIP6 impact model outputs by highlighting priority variables. Dr Katharine Vincent is a member of the VIACS Advisory Board and a co-author on the paper.

Kulima director participated in IPCC Expert Meeting of the Task Group on data and scenario support for Impact and Climate Analysis (TGICA)

IPCC TGICA meetingLast week Dr Katharine Vincent participated in an IPCC Expert Meeting of the Task Group on data and scenario support for Impact and Climate Analysis (TGICA), held at the Lamont Campus of Columbia University in New York. The focus of the meeting was "decision-centred approaches to the use of climate information". Within that, discussions centred around: improving uptake of the IPCC 5th Assessment Report; sharing experiences of applying data for impacts, adaptation and vulnerability assessments; and articulating good practices based on experiences of application of climate information – to inform knowledge products and guidance and the future activities of the TGICA group. Katharine gave a presentation on the climate information needs of the IAV research community on day one.
